IT’S BEGINNING TO LOOK a lot like Christmas…

Free horse-drawn wagon rides were offered around downtown Faribault Saturday afternoon. Here the wagon, with Santa aboard, passes The Depot Bar and Grill.

How gorgeous! Nothing like that in Sydney, sadly xx
My community just started doing the wagon rides last year, I believe. It’s a nice addition to downtown festivities.
…and very little snow. I am usually ok with that, but it is nice to have some for Christmas.
A dusting of snow here this a.m. in Faribault. How about you in Red Wing?
Now all we need is snow…bring it on!
As long as snow does not fall on any of the days we and family have to travel. That’s always my concern at Christmas time.
Awww….fun sight but it would be better without the snow. We don’t have any yet…..although I am afraid it might be icy out there this morning as I slip slide to the radio station. 🙂
Careful does it on your drive to the station. Light dusting of snow here this morning.
It was all clear–cold–but we did not get the ice and snow yet. Hopefully it will stay away till after I fly out tomorrow!
That’s what I’m hoping. Stay away so everyone can get where they need to be for the holidays.
When we first moved here (40 years ago) such sights were quite common as there were many “pulling”/work horses kept on a large number of farms but there seems to be few and the gentlemen who engaged in such activities have moved away from keeping their beloved horses and have been replaced with younger ones who are more focused on tractor horse-power (although at our town’s summer celebration, the horse-pulling competition has many participants, the bleachers are only packed with spectators during the tractor pulling!!!). Lovely seasonal post, even w/o a white backdrop!!!!
A retired farmer from over by Nerstrand has this team of horses. And he’s everywhere with them at events.
And, I’m sure, much in demand.
Based on the many events I see Mike and his wife, Pat, and their horses at, I would say, yes.
😊
What could be more fun than that?
Exactly. And the wagon was apparently decked out in bells as I heard it jingling along the street.
I love that there are still people who use horses in this way – quintessential!
I like that word, quintessential.
As do I!!!
What a treat to have that to ride through town. Our town offers “carriage” rides and that’s nice too, but the open wagon just begs you to ride!! How fun is that! Looks like you all could use some snow – cold here this morning for a change and feels good. Stay warm.
Yes, nearly all of our snow melted in near 50-degree temps this past weekend. However, temps have now dropped back to “normal” and we got a dusting of snow last evening.
