RAIN, RAIN, GO AWAY, come again another day.
Minnesotans are wishing just that. Give us some dry weather after this perpetual rainfall which has inundated our state in recent days.
If only we could ship this moisture west…to California.
My friend Norma would certainly welcome it. She tells me of temps over 110 in the southern central valley region. Dirt, not dust, storms brought unhealthy brown fog that lingered for two days. She tells of waves of dirt and brushing dirt from her car.
I cannot imagine.
She worries about valley fever spores that swirl in the arid climate. Valley fever is a lung infection brought on by inhaling a microscopic fungus that is found in the region’s soil.
She is concerned, too, about orange growers and other farmers. Already food prices are rising in grocery stores.
This area of California needs rain.
Just like Minnesota doesn’t need more moisture right now.

Not sure what fell overnight, but it was 4″ before that recently. It is getting pretty soggy. I do like not having to water everything though 🙂
Good point, Dan. I don’t miss the watering either.
1.6″ last eve here. Drove home around 8:00 pm from town in the heaviest rain ever (even heavier than the flooding rains in ’07). Tom said we did get some hail. Our bus trip took us toward Madison/Waunakee but we were out of the area before the really bad stuff hit!!!! River rising and will probably have to bring the camper home by the end of the week/weekend……sigh……..
I thought of you last evening as we were hunkered down during a thunderstorm so loud that collectibles tumbled from a dining room shelf during a particularly loud clap.
I wondered whether you would be retrieving your camper.
Glad you got safely home.
Doing the “retrieving” on Thursday. The river level is coming up fast!!! We had so much fun down at the camper last weekend……..maybe by the end of June……………………………
Are you sure you should wait until Thursday?
Oh yeah! Haven’t spotted Noah…..yet!!!! LOL!
My parents motorhome is stranded and surrounded by water with two others in the RV Park this morning – so not good news. They were able to move their vehicle and golf cart to higher ground though. Wet ground and heavy RV are not a good combo. You can send the rain Out West and it would go to good use. I will do a rain, rain go away dance for the Midwest 🙂 Hang in there and Stay as dry as possible!
Yikes. Is the RV Park near a river? Glad they got moved to higher ground. Clouds are building now…
The Straight River. Their RV is not on higher ground – tried to move and just sunk – thank goodness for insurance.
I just reread your first comment and mistook “vehicle” for RV. The Straight River runs through Faribault. So would this be in Owatonna, where I know there’s a campground along the Straight River? Owatonna has had some flooding and Northfield is doing some sandbagging.
That is the one.
I’m so sorry this happened to your parents, Renee. But very thankful they are OK. Hopefully the Straight River in Owatonna will start going down and the campground will begin to dry out. I don’t expect that to happen for awhile yet as more storms are forecast for the next several days.
They are okay and that is great. It just needs to stop raining and dry out a bit! Thanks so much 🙂
I’m sorry to hear about all your rain. After all your snow you would think you could have some pleasant weather. It’s the same in Oz though – the rain never falls where it’s needed most xx
The rain continues with flooding in many Minnesota communities. More is predicted for this evening…
I am so sorry you all are getting so much rain…wish you could send it our way as we’re still way behind. Had a little rain last month, just enough for the farmers to get some things planted. Hope you all don’t get flooded.
Beautiful sunshine today and no rain. Saw lots of flooded cropland this afternoon.
