WHEN I NOTICED THIS SCENE in a residential neighborhood along a busy street in Owatonna, I laughed. I can’t pinpoint the precise reason. Perhaps it was the juxtaposition of winter (the snow-covered yard) and summer (the motorhome and thoughts of camping).
Or perhaps I laughed because the camper covering reminds me of a Paul Bunyan-sized sleeping bag.
When laughter erupts unexpectedly, I accept it. Laughter is a gift.

So much dear dear optimism in this camper covering – they have more faith than I. Once I get to February I believe summer will never come.. laughter is good for the soul especially a wintry one. c
When I hit March, I start to feel as you do about winter. OK, maybe a bit earlier. I like your thought of optimism.
Yes, February can be nasty and we (and you ) have had snow in March too so I don’t know – I guess we hang out for April?.. c
Oh, but Miss C., we get plenty of April snow and even sometimes (although rarely) into May. Hang in there.
Laughter comes in the strangest ways sometimes and yes—embrace it always. What I find funny is so often not funny to anyone else and that is okay, isn’t it? It does look like a giant sleeping bag —-but a snowy one.
I’m the same way. What’s funny to me others don’t find humorous. And what they find funny, I don’t. You know what’s making me especially happy? That amazon prime commercial with the mini horse. I watch it online sometimes because it makes me so darned happy. The music. The sweet little horse. Everything about it.
Since I don’t have live television I had to Google that one. Now I have watched it three times…. giggling each time and I am not getting much work done. Thanks for sharing that! I agree. Laughter is so good for the soul.
Happy to make you laugh this morning, Sandra.
During a Minnesota winter, everything has to bundle up.
Good answer!
Also, “must be a redneck when” the value of the vehicle parked in the yard is worth more than the house it is parked in front of. Reader’s Digest has a column called “Laughter is the Best Medicine”. During my training prior to going to Viet Nam, we had been given fresh (really short) haircuts. On a number of occasions we were admonished for various rule infractions, promotions were frozen, time off was reduced to very little and whatever time we had was micromanaged. This seemed to prompt the response, “What, you gonna make me grow my hair long, promote me, send me on leave and make me stay in the USA?” Laughter is a gift and we can find it nearly everywhere we go, regardless of where we go. So, in your own wanderings, don’t forget to pack your sense of humor!
I thought the same about the value of the house vs. the motorhome, but was too polite to mention that here. Whether you’re a Redneck or not, I always enjoy your comments, Gunny.
Having grown up most of my life in the Southwest, Depending on where one finds me, would determine what people would think. One would probably think I am a “redneck” as I drive a pickup. More dirt,, more better! I often speak with a slight southwestern drawl (different than a Southeastern drawl), wear boots, jeans or tan slacks, odd shirts with either multiple pockets or a southwestern pattern either a ball cap or a cowboy hat. FYI: I do possess a graduate degree and on occasion have cleaned up quite well according to my Missus. I got enough stickers on the backside of my truck to embarrass my wife and keep a passenger in another vehicle entertained for about five minutes as they pass me by. Just because I am looking for some humor in life doesn’t mean I can provide some!
You seem like a mighty fine man, Gunny.
Haaaaaaaaa, haaaaaaaaaa, haaaaaaaa. I was thinking that maybe an arctic camo cover would have been a bit more appropriate than the desert one..
Now that is one splendid idea so the covering would blend into the environment. Did you notice the bright blue recycling bin with the yellow top? I cannot understand why these colors are chosen. Mine is the same. They stick out like sore thumbs and look horrible sitting curbside and then sitting in yards.
Maybe so the recycle guy can find them in all that Minnesota snow. lol
Maybe.
That would have been cool!
It may run, but it can’t hide Gunny..
I would have headed out into the RV to some place warm and sunny and sandy – ha! Happy Weekend – Enjoy 🙂
Right where you live now…
A Gorgeous Day Here Today 🙂
Too funny. I never would have thought of Paul Bunyan but I did think that the camper was nicer than the house. Then again you can’t see under the cover. Maybe that’s the reason.
Same thoughts here.
Camper hibernation!
I need you to write the headlines for my posts. Excellent, Don.
It’s good to see humor around us… it doesn’t have to be for a reason. I like your idea of the giant sleeping bag 🙂
Laughter is good.
Laughter is definitely a gift. I’m glad you’re able to have bursts of laughter during your long winter xx
Laughter is essential in any season, especially so in winter.
