UNLIKE SOME BLOGGERS I know (click here), I do not have to travel all the way to Wyoming to see a bear. I photographed this bear at the intersection of a four-lane highway and a busy street in a commercial area of Faribault Wednesday evening. The A & W bear almost seamlessly blends in with the road construction environment.
No need to be alert, make noise, carry bear spray or avoid hiking alone or running.
This bear, offering free root beer floats, seemed much too friendly for those worries.

That is my kind of bear!
Mine, too.
Your bear sighting = very cute. Also very yummy possibilities from that bear in the way of root beer floats. Yum.
Yes, we saw the A & W bear on our way to bible study. By the time we got back into town, it was late and we were full from all the food we ate prior to bible study.
Ah! The A&W bear! Ranks right up there with the Hamm’s bear and Yogi. BTW, my first job that wasn’t babysitting was as a carhop at an A&W. Hooking trays onto half-rolled-down car windows is not as easy as you might think. Thank God I wasn’t wearing roller skates.
Oh, Kathleen, you MUST drive down sometime to the Faribault A & W. Perhaps you can pretend you are still a teen and do some carhopping. Yes, car hop service is still available at our A & W.
You had me fooled!!! When I read the headline I thought, “Wow, that’s getting kind of
close to home”. Cute Bear.
Exactly my intention. To grab the readers attention.
Sorry we missed this. La Crosse was doing it, too. YUM!!!
Ah, I thought it might be local. But not so.
I didn’t realize it was bigger than La Crosse, either!!!
Plus this bear won’t steal your Pik-a-nik basket.
Definitely appreciate your wit, Mike.
Thank you. I appreciate your site. Being from western MN and now stuck in the suburbs of Minneapolis, it sort of takes me back and away from all of this. Thanks again.
Stuck in the burbs, huh? Well, I’m happy then to occasionally take you away from the metro. Where are your western Minnesota roots? Anywhere near mine in Vesta in Redwood County?
No. Further north in Fergus. Hence the glowing review of Dairyland : )
Ah, yes, now I remember…
