WHAT ARE YOU EXPECTING for Valentine’s Day?
Roses?
Chocolates?

Some creative mind (not mine) came up with the “You’ve been heart attacked” idea. Minnesota Prairie Roots file photo.
How about a heart attack? No, not the medical emergency that threatens your life. But rather a staged attack that plants paper hearts in your yard.

Imagine three times-plus this number of hearts placed in our friends’ yards. Minnesota Prairie Roots file photo.
Two years ago, my husband and I crept into the front yards of two friends on the evening of February 13. There we stuck colorful paper hearts into snowbanks with the message, Happy Valentine’s Day! You’ve been heart attacked! Then we fled into the darkness of a cold Minnesota night, hoping to elude barking dogs and porch lights. We succeeded.
The two young families awoke the next morning to find dozens of hearts scattered across the snow. It didn’t take them long to determine who’d done this. And then, because they have such giving hearts, these families plucked up the hearts and heart attacked two more families.
My husband and I got as much joy out of giving this Valentine’s Day gift to families we treasure as they did out of receiving.
There’s still time to plan a heart attack. Click here for details.
If you carry out a heart attack, please report back here in the comments section. I’d love to hear about your experience.

Love, love this idea 🙂 We went to see Andrea Bocelli last night – AMAZING!!! We are loving the Arts scene here – Lion King a few weeks ago and then finally saw Bocelli live. I watch his concerts on TV usually. I have Wicked and Maroon 5 on my list next. Kinky Boots is a close runner up – just here for a week back in December – need to stay longer next time when in town.
Happy Valentine’s Day – Happy Weekend – Enjoy 🙂 (((((((Hugs&Loves)))))
You are enjoying your new home, aren’t you? Happy Valentine’s Day!
Yes I am 🙂 Going to be close to the 70’s here today – Hello! Sunshine. Woke up to 94% humidity – a little soupy.
Alright, that type of humidity sounds worse than subzero temps.
I remember this idea from before and it really is a great one. As for my plans—going home to see my husband for 12 hours before he leaves again. 🙂
Safe travels, my dear. And enjoy your 12 hours with Chris.
What a wonderful idea!
I think you should sneak into Stan’s yard and show him your love on Valentine’s Day.
Love the idea!!!!!! I wonder if one could do it with flamingos with hearts in their beaks!!!! LOL!!!!!!
That is a GREAT idea. Be sure to photograph and blog about this. You have two days to prepare and then carry out this Texas version of a heart attack.
The only difficulty……..flamingos (of any kind) are “hen’s teeth” scarce around here!!!!!! LOL!!!!!
Are you serious? I think not.
I remember you writing about this before and what a FANTASTIC idea!! Thanks for posting about this again! 🙂
I thought this time I’d give readers advanced notice so they could carry out a Heart Attack if they wished.
Great posting of a creative idea to break up winter with pops of color and valentine sentiments. Hope you had a nice Valentine’s Day.
Other than photographing a Valentine’s Day event at church, my Sunday was rather ordinary.
Love it
