MOVING WEST or heading west and north up to the lake cabin? I’m not sure given the cargo and the Maine license plate on the boat trailer.
But the fictional Clampett family of the 1962-1971 comedic television series, The Beverly Hillbillies, has nothing on these travelers spotted along Interstate 94 about five miles east of Alexandria Thursday afternoon.
What do you think? Lake cabin or permanent move?

You had me with THAT photo! LOL! I’m so glad that Grandma isn’t seated in that chair (ala Nat’l Lampoon)! Great post!!!! LOL! I needed it!
Yes, this was quite the sight on the interstate. I assume your dear friend’s funeral is today, or just was? Hugs.
Wow. They really should have put a cut out Granny up there on the chair, don’t you think?
Great idea. That would have been hilarious.
I like to think they are on an adventure. We are not this bad, but the truck bed is usually full with the camper on behind when we hit the road – ha! Happy Saturday:)
Ah, to follow you with my camera. Imagine the shots I’d get.
Wow! I think I would hesitate to drive behind that vehicle. I’m hoping that’s a permanent move. I’d shudder to think that’s how someone went to their cabin every single year.
You know, there are lots of vehicles on the road that seem to have less-than-secure items on board. On this trip I wondered about tires, straw bales and cement blocks, among other items, on vehicles. I’ll be posting soon, though, about the major roadside event we managed to avoid thanks to my inquiring mind and a helpful gentleman in Rothsay. Let’s just way I’m very happy I convinced my husband to pull off Interstate 94 to photograph the prairie chicken roadside attraction in Rothsay. Check back soon for photos and story.
Where ever they were headed, it was smart to get through Mn before another 5 cents a gallon tax on gas is added to our already too high gas tax. It could have been the Grizwold family going on “Vacation”!! They have not picked up Aunt Edna yet. Remember when she died and they put her on a chair on top of their “Family Truckster”? How was that for hitting two subjects with a length of twine?
I have not watched the Grizwold family, although my husband has seen the show. So I will just have to trust you are spot on with your comment. Good to hear from you again, Allan.
Hmmmmmm, I’m going with cabin! Love the chair, and is that a ladder attached to the drivers side of the van?
Yup, a ladder. Maybe the kitchen sink is hidden under the boat tarp.
fantastic capture audrey, you were quick with the camera! laugh!!! c
I’m nearly always ready with the camera.
birds of a feather we are!! c
Yes, indeed. We love our cameras, don’t we?
Love it!!! I think cabin bound!!! Made me chuckle on this one!
Oh and Chris just weighed in——fishing season opener this weekend so maybe headed to the cabin for the opener?????
Being the fishing opener and all, as your dear husband pointed out, I’d vote cabin also.
Left for Grand Forks Friday afternoon, with our caravan….saw many sights like this…opening the cabins for sure.
Celebrated daughters graduation from UND! Then packed most of her apartment up into pick up and 2 cars…We looked similar to that top of that van!
What a long drive….exhausted, happy, glad to be home! And I can safely say have no need to return to the lovely Grand Forks ND city—again!!!
First of all, congratulations to your daughter upon her graduation from UND. I know exactly how you feel about that long drive. I won’t miss that haul when it ends. Once past Fergus, the interstate seems to go on into forever.
Watch for a story tomorrow from Interstate 94 near Rothsay. You will be thankful that you did not leave until Friday afternoon for Grand Forks.
