THIS WEEK BRINGS WELCOME warm temps to southern Minnesota. Thirties and forties combined with strong sunshine will melt the ever-heightening snow pack. I am thankful.
The snow is getting a bit deep around here, especially at the ends of driveways and intersections where mounded snow obscures vision.
Parking lot corners and edges now resemble mini Minnesota mountains.
You can’t see curbs for the snow.
I laugh at the irony of snow-embraced stop signs, meant for traffic, but in my mind a cue to Old Man Winter to just stop. Stop delivering cold and snow. Pack your bags and head wherever you go when March marches in the door.
Give me dripping icicles and puddles of slush and sunshine that hints of Spring booting Old Man Winter out the door.
Yup, I’m ready, so ready, to welcome Spring to southern Minnesota.

I liked this winter better when it would snow a couple inches and then melt- snow a little then melt. Now that it’s piling up I’m ready for it to go! It’s getting harder for me to pull up to mailboxes and even trickier to pull away sometimes!! 😜 I long for green grass and warm temps and getting our convertible out of storage! 🚗Yup! I’m ready!!!
With your job of traveling rural roads, I can understand why you are more than ready for spring. Be safe out there.
That is a WHOLE lot of White Stuff!!! When mother nature hands you the white stuff you make a snowperson – hehe. Happy Day – Enjoy 🙂
I haven’t seen any snow people in yards around, except the gigantic one I featured here awhile ago. Kids just don’t seem to get outdoors to play like they did when I was growing up. That said, I saw several kids sliding, two kids playing in the snow and an entire group playing football (or some other sport) in the snow on Sunday. So good to see that.
I was in Faribault yesterday and saw the big snowman is still standing. Someone had a ladder out and was shaping him up!
Well, then, I’ll have to swing by for another look at that gigantic snowman.

Oh, it’s been warm this week with mostly sunshine and temps in the mid-40s. The snow pack is noticeably less.
I really was enjoying your photos of the snow. Here in northwest Arkansas we have no snow falls of any kind which stayed on the ground. Some rain and of course freezing on streets and our driveway which is like a ski slope. Our last week has been a lot of rain but not freezing. In fact today we may have thunder storms. At least I have not had to get out snow boots. Take care and stay safe while out on the roads. Dorothy

I’m loving the weather, but a little sad to see the snow go! We are headed to New Ulm on Saturday for BockFest! Should be a Beautiful Day!
I love New Ulm. It’s one of my favorite Minnesota cities. I’ve never attended BockFest. But it seems like something you would really enjoy.
We do! We take a school bus down from New Prague every year. I think we have close to 40 people in our group this year!

wow that’s a lot of snow to contend with and should be booted to the curb!!. MN has had quite the winter that seems endless-let’s hope for a March thaw soon.,
We are getting temps warm enough this week to melt some of that snow. But then more snow is in the forecast for next week.
Like Brenda R said I too long for green grass! I was mentioning to my wife just last night as we were looking at the snow and wind blowing I am getting real tired of white! We have more snow now than the entire winter of last year. We had freezing rain a couple months ago and that with the added weight of the snow people are out with snow blowers on their roofs removing the snow. The radio mentioned this morning that it would be a good idea to check the roofs particularly where wind blows the snow into drifts and adds uneven weight to the roof. Just 3 to 3 1/2 months more of winter YAHOO!!!
I want to know how you get a snowblower onto a roof. I write on the topic of roof snow removal tomorrow.
Keep telling yourself, “Only X number more months of winter.” Maybe you will believe your mantra. 🙂
To get snow blower on roof takes a couple of people, a couple of ladders and a plank across the ladders to make a scaffolding. Then brute muscles! Or if available a forklift or bobcat to hoist the snow blower up. Either way it’s an added chore just to begin a chore!
Oh, man. Move back to Minnesota, Don.
We differ on this topic, and I’m a bit jealous of your snow amount, we have about half of that here in Rochester. I have been enjoying the more mild temps, it makes for a more enjoyable walk around the neighborhood. Spring will be here soon my friend 🙂
You always seem to get more of the mixed precrip with freezing rain, which I consider more difficult to deal with than snow. You are welcome to come anytime to Faribault to play in the snow, although the snow is vanishing here, too.
