ON OUR WAY TO CHURCH on Sunday morning in North Morristown, my husband and I drove through some mighty fine country.
Past…
grain bins awaiting the season’s yield
autumn’s glory edging Cannon Lake
harvested corn fields
tree line and crop line
a farmer laboring
beauty and bounty
a clutch of bins
horses dallying in a barnyard
a shed weathered by time
an old brick house on a hill
to Trinity Lutheran Church, North Morristown.
We savored the best of a lovely, gorgeous, stunning, beautiful, wonderful, photographic October morning that transitioned into an unbelievably warm afternoon.
Typically we don’t get this many balmy October days here in Minnesota, meaning we need to appreciate each one while secretly hoarding memories of these days for the long winter months ahead.
For now I want to remember this Sunday, this drive west of Faribault to the little country church, Trinity Lutheran, edged by an alfalfa field and across the road, acres of corn.
I want to remember the warmth of the day and of the people with whom we worshiped.
I want to remember, too, the good food and fellowship afterward in the church basement as we celebrated this congregation’s annual fall dinner and craft sale.
CHECK BACK for posts about dinner and about Trinity church.

What a wonderful set of photos. I really enjoy to look at them. I see that fall is coming to there also. From the bottom, I love most of all, the third and second photo. The last photo is photographed in a very artistic way. I do not want to advertise, but in my latest I have photos from quilt show. I know that In U.S.A. you make most beautiful patchworks and quilts, but what about in Finland.
Have a wonderful day!
Yes, autumn has definitely arrived in Minnesota. The weather has been especially spectacular, albeit it way too dry.
I’m glad you enjoyed my images of the Minnesota countryside. All, except the last, were taken from the passenger side window of our car while traveling at highway speeds. I am always amazed at the photos I manage to get via this method of photography. I really have little time to compose. So I set the camera at a fast shutter speed, anticipate and hope I snap the shutter button at just the right moment. Oh, and clean windows are a must.
Well it is a good thing my entire family was in SW MN for a wedding last weekend, or I would have to be looking for pictures of my grandma and grandpa in future posts! I still may know some distant relatives in the upcoming pictures. You sure seem to have a knack for finding my family….you shouldn’t make me miss home like that!!!
Fall is sure beautiful. I love the honey crisp apples and hot apple cider with cinnamon sticks!!
Well, Amy, I don’t on-purpose photograph your family, but they seem to be EVERYWHERE. Consider my blog posts a gift from home rather than making you miss home. Does that work for you?
How did you like southwestern Minnesota?
That will work for me. Thanks 🙂 I didn’t really have the time to absorb southwestern Minnesota because of our very quick trip…30 hours of driving over a period of 3 1/2 days….but it was a very serene view! My cousin and her new husband took some pictures with the ready-to-harvest cornfields in the background and we also took some group shots walking down the middle of the state highway! Right now, I really don’t like it because it is too far away from home!!!
Sounds like you are really missing your Minnesota family, Amy.
Did southwestern Minnesota remind you at all of Kansas?
