WHEN I PHOTOGRAPH car shows, I find myself drawn to red vehicles.
For one, the color red pops in photos.
But, I’m also wondering if red cars are more common? Is that why, when I scroll through frames from the June 19 Faribault Car Cruise Night, that I notice lots of red vehicles in my photos.
Red cars.
Red trucks.
Even red Harley Davidson motorcycles. Bikes ended the parade.
When I think of a red vehicle, I think of speed. And being a bit show-offy.
I think of youth. Although that’s not necessarily accurate. How many guys have purchased red cars during the stereotypical mid-life crisis? Maybe you don’t want to answer that question. Red, I suppose, looks good on anyone, no matter their age.
Red seems an attention-grabbing hue. A good color choice for on-the-road visibility.
Whether a vehicle is fire-engine red or a shade muting more to maroon, the undertones will always catch my eye. There’s just something about red…
TELL ME: Have you ever owned, or do you own, a red vehicle or shade thereof? What’s your color preference in a vehicle? And why?

Loving your cruise posts 🙂 The craziest color car we had growing up was a purple Impala. CravesDad is a burgundy car fan as well as CravesBrotherInLaw a red truck fan. Happy Day – Enjoy!
Wow, a purple Impala. Vikings purple?
It was almost like a black purple. I think CravesDad picked it up in Detroit. We got some looks with the car – ha!
I bet you did.
We currently have a red car and I like it!
My mom had a red car too, and she painted her garage red…she found the paint in the cheap, cheap bin.
Red was her color for sure, and her name was Ruby.
A red garage, wow. But, yes, it certainly fits her beautiful name.
You have Godfather’s Pizza!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lucky folks! Love the cars, but I only have money enough for pizza and believe me, I would stop at Godfather’s!
Craziest color I have seen on any vehicle (which was a customized pickup truck was “Burple” To hard to describe.
Hmmmm, now there’s a creative word. Bluish-purple?
Next trip to Minnesota, stop for Godfather’s Pizza. Good to see you’re studying my photos, paying attention to the backdrops/businesses here in Faribault. That should earn me a free pizza, right.
Great series, Audrey! I watched the videos, you have really captured the cruise spirit….and the FUN cars. Ford Fairlane, oh my, been so long since Ford, Chevy, Chrysler were household words. Basilleo’s. If they ever move or close, finding 4th St. will be impossible – oh, wait! the police are just up the block now. I’ve driven 7 cars, the first being the green ’51 Nash Ambassador stick shift, got my license in that. (That Nash owner must have stayed home this month.) Have actually made a spreadsheet as at my age, one hates those nagging questions that pop into one’s mind…”now what did I drive when?”. 2 were red, including the current VW Golf. Daughter’s have each had 2 red. I think car companies make more red than other colors. Be an interesting stat to know. I know VW markets more colors to different countries. Since ’77 I’ve owned 2 Golf’s now, one picks up such trivia. Love the pics, thank you!
Sandy, thank you for appreciating my work. And thanks for sharing your “red” (and other) car stories. Happy cruisin’.
