THE TRICK-OR-TREATERS, all eight of them, have come and gone.

The candy bowl remains filled with plenty of chocolate for a day or two of snacking.

I’ve switched off the front entry light and locked the door on another Halloween.

I hopes yours, like mine, was sweetened by candy and brightened by the wide smiles of jack-o-lanterns and of happy, happy kids.

I edited my jack-o-lantern photo just because, well, it’s Halloween. This is version one. Rather plain, huh? Continue scrolling down to the next image.

So…I added color. I’ve always loved lime green.
The real jack-o-lantern, no photo editing involved.

Next year you need to come help me with trick or treats. Neighbor Julie called out to me that we had hit the 100 mark. I know about 25 more came after that. I had to close the lights off because I ran out of candy @8:00. This is normal for our big U drive road. Due to carpol tunnel surgery, niece Whitney handed out most of my candy, while her Pippi Longstocking sister Cortney went door to door with mom. I truly love Halloween dress up and seeing all the children. Makes me remember walking the whole town of Vesta for treats and our BROWN PAPER bags getting holes in them. Best of all ending up at Grandmas waiting to be picked up. AHHHH I miss the good old days. Love ya your sister

Yes, Halloween brings back so many sweet memories of tromping around Vesta collecting candy and a few popcorn balls hard enough to crack teeth.

Remember when some of the “old ladies” made us sign our names in guestbooks?

It was such a good time, especially since we rarely got candy.

And those masks. Remember those hard plastic masks held on by a rubber band strap that rested behind our ears? My favorite was a gypsy mask and wearing one of mom’s colorful skirts.

Anyone else have fond childhood Halloween memories to share?

There were quite a few kids in my neighborhood, but I still have chocolate for snacking. It was a good night.

There was one year where I ran out of candy and had to resort to giving out apples. Interestingly, we had a lot fewer trick-or-treaters the following year!

Yeah, I bet apples weren’t too popular. I heard of a Wisconsin dentist who was paying kids $1 per pound for their Halloween candy. Some kids took him up on the offer and turned in their treats. As for me, I think I’d keep the chocolate and turn in the rest.
