Vintage vehicles lined several blocks of a residential neighborhood just off the main drag, Minnesota State Highway 60. The location was perfect for those wishing to check out downtown Kenyon.
A RECENT CAR SHOW in Kenyon, at this southern Minnesota community’s annual Rose Fest, presented a multitude of photo ops.
I focused on the shiny, the unusual, the beautiful, the interesting, the whatever caught my eye.
And between all that photographing, I met John, a former co-worker of my husband, and John’s wife, Diane. John and Randy had not seen each other in something like 35 years, when they worked together at a Rochester automotive parts store. John recognized Randy first. It was a wonderful moment, to see these two guys reconnect.
So sometimes it is not all about the cars. It is about the people and the moments. And rats if I didn’t fail to photograph that reunion.
Enjoy these images from the Rose Fest Car Show, minus John and Randy.

Composing this image, I appreciated the melding of car and beautiful house. Turns out the house is a funeral home.

I love how the owners of these cars are so proud of them. It’s evident in how well they keep them. I think the Bel Air is my favourite. And how fabulous that John and Randy were able to reconnect after all those years. What a wonderful day! xx
It was a wonderful day. Your husband would have loved the car show.
Love all the metal and chrome – a distinct contrast to today’s plastic cars.
Perhaps that’s part of what draws me/us to these vintage vehicles.
That red pick-up is pretty nice. We own an older car (a 1975 Karmann Ghia) and on the rare occasions I’m in it, I’m always struck by how skinny the steering wheel is and how vinyl-y the seats are. We forget sometimes that car interiors have changed as much as the exteriors.
That’s an excellent point.
You find the most interesting hoods on cars. Cool Captures! Happy Day 🙂
I’m always on the look-out for the interesting to photograph.
The Street Dance on Friday night had a few cars and motorcycles that were vintage and in very good shape. I love to see them and have huge admiration for those who spend time and energy (and money) to restore. It is definitely a labor of love, isn’t it?
These folks are passionate about their vehicles.
Wednesday evening we came across a tractor roll-in at an old-fashioned drive-in in Winona. Photos will be forthcoming…
I can hardly believe that you didn’t recognize the hippie van as The Mystery Machine from ‘”Scooby Doo!” Obviously, you never watched this cartoon that has been around since at least the ’70’s.
That’s right. I had no idea this was a Scooby Doo van. Learn something new every day.
